MAPA Books takeover This is @rj.fernandezis editor and bookmaker at @mapabooks taking over @everydayphilippines ⠀ ⠀ Mapa Books is an independent publishing house with a special interest in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. ⠀ This week we are sharing images from our first book ILI by photographer Tommy Hafalla. For over three decades, Hafalla has been documenting the life and rituals of the ethnolinguistic groups that occupy the Philippine Cordillera. ⠀ ⠀ Ama Felipe and Ina Sidong are from barangay Sayucsoc in Sagada. This was taken in front of their house wearing their Sunday best. The horns behind signify the nen-pabbey or traditional way their children were married. The more horns you have, the more opportunities you had to share, since a babayas (traditional wedding) entails feeding the entire community. Ama Felipe is one of the elders in Dap-ay Matuba.⠀ ⠀ Demang, Sagada ⠀ Mountain Province⠀ ⠀ #mapabooks #tommyhafalla #ilibytommyhafalla #photobooks #photography #35mm #analogue #documentaryphotography #philippines #everydayphilippines #everydayasia #everydayeverywhere #kodaktrix #kodaktrix400 #filmsnotdead #cordilleramountainrange ⠀ Copyright Tommy Hafalla A post shared by #EverydayPhilippines (@everydayphilippines) on Feb 4, 2017 at 5:04pm PST RJ FernandezFebruary 19, 2017 Facebook0 Twitter Reddit Tumblr 0 Likes
